Chinese section of Turkmen-China gas pipeline ready Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has met with Jiang Zemin, CEO of Chinese National Petroleum Company (CNPC), and Liu Gumsyun, General Director of CNPC International Turkmenistan, August 8, in Beijing.
The head of CNPC informed the Turkmen President about the progress of Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline project implementation. According to Jiang Zemin, the pipeline’s section that runs in the territory of China has been already constructed. By the end of the next year, the CNPC Chairman said, the construction of Turkmen-China gas pipeline would be completed and its capacity would be 40 billion cub m (bcm).
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov offered the Chinese partners to consider the possibility of buying additional 10 bcm of natural gas to 30 bcm a year set forth by the interstate agreement. The head of state expressed interest in broadening the cooperation with CNPC by realizing new projects, particularly, the construction of gas processing facilities.
“All initiatives of the Turkmen leader will be considered and specified during the negotiations with the representatives of the Turkmen fuel and energy complex planned in the nearest time”, Jiang Zemin said.
