Turkmenistan to raise grain purchase prices by 2,5 times

The government of Turkmenistan has proposed measures to motivate farmers. Turkmenistan will significantly raise grain purchase prices, Turkmen vice prime minister Hojamyrad Geldimyradov said at a government meeting.

As Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted, "the government will allocate large sums of money for these purposes, and already one tonne of this precious raw material from the 2009 harvest will cost 2 million mantas, which will enable rural workers to increase their net profit by more than a half."

It should be noted that state purchase prices for wheat totaled 800 manats per one tonne starting with 2007 harvest.
