Kaolin plant inaugurated in Djebel village in western Turkmenistan A kaolin plant was inaugurated in the village of Djebel in Balkan province on 24 October. Earlier, this plant was relocated from the suburbs of Ashgabat close to the source of raw materials, taking into account the economic expediency of kaolin production. The plant was built by the ministry of industry of construction materials of Turkmenistan. It has the capacity of 20 thousand tons of kaolin a year. Kaolin will be used to produce ceramics as well as fireproof bricks and some insulating materials and facing tiles. It is expected that the region largest cement plant with the capacity of 1 million tons of cement a year will be built in Djebel in the coming years. There is also a tile factory operating in Djebel. The cost of the cement plant is Euro 180 million. It will be built by Turkish Polimeks company. The plant will be commissioned in May 2011.
