MTS launches wireless internet service in Turkmenistan MTS company has offered Turkmenistan's subscribers "MTS Connect" service which comes with a PC modem and special "Internet" tariff plan.
MTS Connect can be purchased at service centers in Ashgabat, Mary, Dashoguz and Turkmenabat cities, the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports from Ashgabat.
"The innovative approach of MTS Connect, which is successfully working in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, will provide a unique opportunity to MTS subscribers in Turkmenistan to get an easy access to the World Wide Web from personal computers at any place and time," head of MTS Turkmenistan Dmitriy Shukov said.
He noted that MTS will continue developing this service by increasing the speed of data transmission, quality and other characteristics. It should be recalled that MTS Turkmenistan launched GPRS services in Turkmenistan in March 2008. Today this service is available to subscribers in all regions of Turkmenistan.
The number of GPRS service users has grown 49 times and GPRS traffic - 25 times since March 2008. MTS is planning to extend EDGE to all large cities of Turkmenistan until the end of this year.
