Grain fields to be generous During these days Turkmen agricultural workers are carrying out the necessary measures on the areas under winter crops. Over 900,000 hectares were sown with wheat for the next year’s harvest in Turkmenistan. 80 percent of the sown areas sprouted with wheat. According to the Turkmengallaonumlery Association, the works are carried out in an effective manner in compliance with the agro-technical norms and standards. At present grain-growers are engaged in applying fertilizers and watering the plantations and carrying on the weed control activities. 54,000 hectares are sown with high-quality wheat varieties Yubileynaya-100 and Batko delivered from the Stavropol Kray and well adapted to the local oil and climatic conditions. The agricultural reform initiated by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov prioritizes raising the rates of production of high-quality agricultural goods including grain to ensure the plenty of food products on the national market. Thus, the important tasks including improvement of the farming standards and development of the breeding activity are set to Turkmen grain-growers and scientists.
