Turkmen president raises natural gas extraction target for 2009 to 75 bn cubic meters Speaking at an expanded government meeting on 15 January, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov set tasks for the government of Turkmenistan for 2009in the sphere of industry and fuel-energy sector, the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports from Ashgabat. They are as follows:
- natural gas extraction should reach 75 bn cubic meters, and gas exports should meet contractual obligations;
- oil extraction should reach 10.9 million tonnes;
- power generation should reach 15.8 bn kWh, with 2,6 bn kWh for export purposes;
- production of mineral fertilizers should reach 805,300 tonnes;
- reconstruction of facilities producing carbamide and ammonium at the Maryazot production association should be completed;
- construction of a potash fertilizer plant in Lebap province should start;
- two iodine and bromine production units should be constructed at the Balkan iodine plant;
- the construction industry should be fully supplied with construction materials produced locally, i.e. to increase production of non-metallic materials to 9,964 mln cubic meters; concrete constructions to 245,6 thousand cubic meters; haydite to 57,5 thousand cubic meters
