Turkmenistan raises procurement price for wheat and rice

The procurement price of locally produced wheat will be gradually raised to Manat 270 (1.35 mln in old currency) per 1 tonne of wheat harvested in 2009, and Manat 400 (2 mln in old currency) per 1 tonne of wheat produced in 2010. Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a resolution to this effect "with the aim to further reform Turkmenistan's agrarian sector, increase revenues of farmers and their motivation." Let us recall that the state procurement price of wheat amounted to Manat 800 thousand per 1 ton since 2007.

Under a similar resolution, the state procurement price of rice has been set at Manat 900 (4,5 mln in old currency) starting from 2009.
