As the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reports with reference to the Turkmengeologiya State Corporation, these results suggest that there was discovered a new gas condensate field in the Karakum Desert. At present, testing of the first well is continuing. Upon completion of testing, geologists will have comprehensive data on production capacity of a newly-discovered mega-reservoir.
The increased exploration, development and provision of necessary industrial facilities at new promising areas is one of the priorities of development of the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan. In accordance with the programme of development of the industry for the period up to 2030, natural gas production is projected to reach 250 billion cubic meters.
