Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a number of resolutions at a government meeting on May 12. The documents order the reconstruction of two cinemas and the building of the Turkmen State Circus together with an underground motor tunnel in Ashgabat. The reconstruction should start this May.

Economy and Business : MTS subscriber base in Turkmenistan grows 2,5 times in 12 months
The number of subscribers of Russian mobile operator Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) in Turkmenistan has exceeded 500 000. The company's press center has reported that its Turkmen unit recorded a 2,5 increase in subscriber base in the last 12 months.
On May 1, 2008 the unified official exchange rate comes into effect in Turkmenistan. The Central Bank of Turkmenistan established the exchange rate of 14,250 manats per dollar.
