Economy and Business : IMF welcomes Turkmenistan’s economic reforms

The regular consultations with the International Monetary Fund Mission are held in Ashgabat. The consultations held each year on the regular basis cover the issues related to the economic and financial policy, the exchange rate policy in particular.

The IMF experts highly appreciated Turkmenistan’s steps towards implementation of the large-scale economic reforms initiated in the interests of the Turkmen state and the people and aimed at ensuring the country’s successful integration into the global economic system.

33 transactions were concluded at the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange last week.

The contrcats conlcuded in the hard currency totalled over US$ 297.204 million. The businessmen from Germany, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Great Britain, Iran, Cyprus and the Virgin Islands bought hydrotreated diesel fuel, L-0.2-62 diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, liquefied gas produced at the Turkmenbashi oil refineries. The buyers from Singapore concluded the contracts for diesel fuel produced at the Seydi oil refinery. The businessmen from Great Britain, Singapore, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Turkey, Cyprus, Russia, Ukraine, the Seychelles, the Marshall Islands and the Virgin Islands bought ginned cotton, sulfuric acid, Portland cement, cotton yarn, wadding, cotton spinning waste.

Economy and Business : Avaza : tomorrow begins today

Several months had passed since the Avaza National Project was presented and the territory of the future sea resort turned into a vast construction site. Hoisting cranes, reinforced concrete structures, dozens of bulldozers, dump trucks and excavators, the high-rise buildings of comfortable hotels mirrored in the glassy surface of the sea – it is what the future tourist zone attracting world’s attention looks like today.

Avaza starts from its roads. One can understand it upon approaching the resort. The branched network of motorways, which will cross the tourist zone so that everyone can reach any part in a few minutes, is under construction. High-powered machines tirelessly excavate the riverbed of the future river, which will centre on a local architectural ensemble. Even now, surveying the future riverbed under construction in the midst of the picturesque dells can imagine what the man-made river will look like.

Economy and Business : White City – Ashgabat : a projection of the future

Each spring seven years in row the Turkmen capital becomes the venue for the White City – Ashgabat International Universal Exhibition. The ceremony of opening the traditional exposition reflecting the unprecedented scale of the reforms implemented in the main city of the country and presenting the plans of Ashgabat’s development. Numerous exhibits and various product samples are displayed on the area of over 2,000 square metres. Participation of about 150 companies and firms from 12 countries worldwide – record representation over the history of the exhibition makes the exhibition universal.

The cabinet ministers, the high-ranking officials of the Mejlis, the members of the large public organisations, the heads of the diplomatic missions and the international organisations accredited to Turkmenistan, he journalist took part in the opening the exposition. The members of the Lithuanian governmental delegation visiting Ashgabat were among the honorary guests.
