As the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reports, following the talks the head of the delegation praised the country's ongoing financial policies and outlined prospects for further cooperation. He noted that, in general, the IMF positively assessed the socio-economic development of Turkmenistan at the current stage. According to him, the country has made significant progress in economic reforms, namely the unification of the exchange rate and denomination of national currency, the adoption of measures to improve and strengthen the banking sector and tax system, and implementation of investment policy.
The IMF welcomes the on-going social reforms implemented in Turkmenistan, including in education and health, as well as measures taken to support and develop small and medium businesses, said Naoyuki Shinohara. He also confirmed the IMF's readiness to continue cooperation with Turkmenistan in the banking-financial sector and other spheres. |
