#2 Politics : Exports of Turkmen gas to China to increase by December 2012
The State Concern "Turkmengaz" will finance the construction of a gas compressor station with the capacity of 30 bcm a year at the gas field "Malay" in Lebap province. This was announced by the Director of the State Agency for the Management and Use of Hydrocarbon Resources Yagshigeldy Kakayev at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. Yagshigeldy Kakayev is temporarily acting as Vice Premier for oil and gas, chemical industries and fisheries replacing Baymyrat Hodzhamuhammedov owing to the latter's ill health.

#5 Economy and Business : Turkmenistan welcomes guests of 1st International Gas Congress
An exhibition dedicated to the 1st International Gas Congress of Turkmenistan, which will start on April 14, opened at the Exhibition Palace in Ashgabat. As the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports from Ashgabat, 80 foreign firms as well as organizations of Turkmenistan's energy sector participate in the exhibition. More than 150 international organizations and companies from 32 countries will participate in the gas congress.
The programme aimed at implementing Turkmenistan’s profound economic potential assigns a special role to Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries. Having set the task to accelerate the development of the fuel and energy complex, which stands as n engine of the national economy, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov specified the increase in oil and gas production and processing into high-quality competitive products as the priorities. This task is being successfully fulfilled today, and the most vivid illustration of the effectiveness of the measures taken in this field is the firstling of the national petrochemical industry.

The pace of construction of the Turkmenbashi-Ashgabat-Farab highway – the main traffic artery connecting the east and west of the country, an important link of international transport infrastructure increases with every passing day. The total length of this strategically important highway crossing the entire country is over 1,500 km.
