I am deeply convinced: if we set down the true aim and go to it by a carefully calculated route, a success imminent. Independent and neutral Turkmenistan confirms it above-said by the practice of its development, which has received qualitatively new acceleration in recent years. The country, as a fantastic giant, strides through barriers and difficulties, carrying the energy and optimism of the people.

In the year of the 65th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War it will be for the first time in the post-Soviet history that the Red Square will host the military parade on May 9 with participation of not only representatives of the Russian Armed Forces but also military men of other nations who fought shoulder to shoulder with the Russians in 1941-1945. Turkmenistan, who made a significant contribution to the overall victory both at the front and in the rear, will be represented at the parade by soldiers of the honor guard, whose commander will ride a white Akhal-Teke horse on the Kremlin's pavement.

Turkmenistan's football champion MTTU, trained by honored coach of Turkmenistan Yazkuli Hodzhageldyev, reached semifinals of the 18th International Cup of Champions of the CIS and Baltic States - 2010 in Moscow.

Eight years ago, Vladimir Putin, who had just become the president of the Russian state, made his first international visits to the CIS countries. The new Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev, preserving his predecessor’s preferences in the foreign policy, did not start “discovering Americas” in the direct and indirect sense of a word, and in fact followed Vladimir Putin’s route he had made eight years before. Like eight years ago, visiting Ashgabat was among the priority trips in the itinerary of the Russian president.

Each year Victory Day is celebrated in Turkmenistan as an event of imperishable value, as a nationwide holiday. Various events are arranged throughout the country to commemorate the heroic deed of the glorious defenders of the Motherland, all those, who endured the ordeals and hardships of the wartime. These include the meetings with the widows of the Turkmen soldiers, who perished in the battlefields, and the war veterans, who are held in high respect in the Turkmen state.
