The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a special briefing on August 16 on the upcoming 65th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations. The Foreign Ministry spokesman briefed the media representatives on the priority positions of Turkmenistan for the 65th session of the UN General Assembly that, according to him, are based on the principles and practices of the foreign policy pursued by the President of Turkmenistan, ideas and international initiatives of the Turkmen leader focused on the further development of comprehensive cooperation with countries of the world and well-respected international organizations.

The Executive Committee of the Institute of International Relations and Economic Cooperation under the Romanian Academy of Sciences unanimously decided to award the prestigious international title "Man of the Year" for 2010 to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The State Concern "Turkmengaz" will finance the construction of a gas compressor station with the capacity of 30 bcm a year at the gas field "Malay" in Lebap province. This was announced by the Director of the State Agency for the Management and Use of Hydrocarbon Resources Yagshigeldy Kakayev at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. Yagshigeldy Kakayev is temporarily acting as Vice Premier for oil and gas, chemical industries and fisheries replacing Baymyrat Hodzhamuhammedov owing to the latter's ill health.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and CEO of Italian oil company "ENI" Paolo Scaroni held talks in the town of Turkmenbashi on 2 June.

The Council of Elders of Turkmenistan convenes on May 14. It will be held in Dashoguz province of Turkmenistan. The council will hear the report of the President of Turkmenistan on the situation in the country, on the most important issues of domestic and foreign policies. Elders will also discuss issues of radical modernization of agriculture of Turkmenistan and other priorities.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended the ceremony of putting the Ahal oil mill into operation. The ceremony of opening the industrial facility built in Ovadandepe settlement in Ruhabat Etrap, Ahal Velayat continued the parade of building premieres to mark the national holiday – the Day of Revival, Unity and Magtymguly’s Poetry

The ceremony of putting new facilities into operation in the Avaza national tourism zone on the Caspian seashore have take place today. This project, the significance of which goes beyond the bounds of time and geography, is implemented at the national level and dominate in the consciousness of the society and the life of the state.

On April 12, the new international airport of the city of Turkmenbashi received the first four international flights. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the airport on this day as part of the grand opening of the facility. He inspected the airport complex, which is designed to give new impetus to the development of national economy, the tourism industry and international cooperation.
