The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a special briefing on August 16 on the upcoming 65th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations. The Foreign Ministry spokesman briefed the media representatives on the priority positions of Turkmenistan for the 65th session of the UN General Assembly that, according to him, are based on the principles and practices of the foreign policy pursued by the President of Turkmenistan, ideas and international initiatives of the Turkmen leader focused on the further development of comprehensive cooperation with countries of the world and well-respected international organizations.

I am deeply convinced: if we set down the true aim and go to it by a carefully calculated route, a success imminent. Independent and neutral Turkmenistan confirms it above-said by the practice of its development, which has received qualitatively new acceleration in recent years. The country, as a fantastic giant, strides through barriers and difficulties, carrying the energy and optimism of the people.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will soon pay an official visit the Republic of Belarus at the head of the governmental delegation of Turkmenistan. The preparations and a program of the forthcoming visit were discussed yesterday at a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.

The year 2009 has been marked with the truly historic landmarks in the successful implementation of Turkmenistan’s energy policy. In the period of the world economic crisis that has adversely affected the economies of the most of the developed countries of the world Turkmenistan abiding confidently by the sustainable development strategy has enhanced its reputation as one of the leaders on the world energy market, expanded energy export routes, strengthened the material and technical base of the fuel and energy sector and ensured a stable increase in the reserves of raw materials and the potential to produce various sources of energy.

The current state of global realities, the nature and trends of political, economic and social processes today require objectively closer and more coordinated cooperation between states and major international organizations around the common main objective of ensuring, on a global scale, peace and security, creation of conditions for further development and progress, and preservation of legal and moral foundations of the modern world order. The effectiveness of such interaction, finding a reasonable balance between national interests and the interests of the entire international community, will largely determine success and deal with other, equally important global issues - environmental, energy, food, issues of equitable distribution of water resources, the impact of work on poverty reduction, infectious diseases, anti-narcotics and other challenges.

The new airliner Boeing-737-700 arrived to the International Airport of Ashgabat from Seattle. It is the second of three aircrafts that were delivered to our country in accordance with the contract for the purchase of three Boeing-737-700 aircrafts concluded with the Boeing Company (USA) this August in compliance with the recent Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Deputy Premier of the State Council People's Republic of China Li Keqiang, June 24, who arrived in Ashgabat heading a large delegation of his country.

Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received a message from French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The invitation was handed to the Turkmen president by Anne-Marie Idrac, the state secretary of foreign trade at the French Ministry of Economy, Industry and Employment, who visited Ashgabat.
