The Days of Turkmen Culture started in Kazakhstan on April 25. The large-scale action initiated by the leaders of two countries is held under the agreements achieved during the top-level talks and vividly evidence the neighbouring countries’ endeavours and readiness to develop co-operation, to intensify the political, economic and humanitarian relations as well as to strengthen the ties of friendship and neighbourliness between the peoples of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

The organizers of the cultural action are the Ministry of Culture and Broadcasting Activities of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Kazakh Aenderi JSC.

The Turkmen representative delegation consisting of the popular singers and folklore artists, musicians, theatrical actors, painters and jewellers, cinematographers, museum and library specialists and journalists arrived to Almaty to take part in the cultural action, which will take place till May 2.

The regular meeting of the oil and gas industry ministers of the participating countries proved the exceptionally high demand in Turkmen natural gas on world energy market and continued the talks started at the previous, 9th meeting of the Steering Committee in Ashgabat in 2007. As is known, India had officially stated its intent to collaborate in the project.

Two main items were put on the agenda of the 10th meeting: drafting the Framework agreement on construction of the transnational gas pipeline and discussing the so-called principal of agreement - the basis of the future contract.

The Turkmen-Lithuanian economic forum was held at the President Hotel in Ashgabat within the framework of the visit of the Lithuanian governmental delegation led by Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Gediminas Kirkilas to Turkmenistan. The high-ranking officials and the leading specialists of the governmental and business organisations of both countries took part in meeting.

Opening the forum Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Gediminas Kirkilas and Vice Premier Khojamuhammed Muhammedov wished the forum fruitful work and focused on the partners’ endeavours to establish the close business contacts.
