Tourism and Culture : New regional museums to be built in Turkmenistan

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a number of resolutions at a government meeting on May 12. The documents authorize the construction of new regional museums in the administrative centers of three provinces, the cities of Balkanabat, Mary and Turkmenabat.

Politics : NATO to continue building up its relations with Turkmenistan with respect and taking due account of its neutral status

"NATO is going to continue building up its relations with Turkmenistan with respect and taking due account of its neutral status," the NATO secretary general's special representative for the South Caucasus and Central Asia, Robert Simmons, said at a meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in Ashgabat on May 12.

Economy and Business : MTS subscriber base in Turkmenistan grows 2,5 times in 12 months

The number of subscribers of Russian mobile operator Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) in Turkmenistan has exceeded 500 000. The company's press center has reported that its Turkmen unit recorded a 2,5 increase in subscriber base in the last 12 months.

Tourism and Culture : Turkmenistan to invest Euro 55 million in development of Mollakara resort

The ministry of health and medical industry of Turkmenistan is to sign a contract with Turkish company Erku for the design and construction of a new recreation center for 500 people, a two-storey hotel, and a solarium for 300 people on the bank of Duzly lake in the Mollakara resort. A residential house with improved conveniences for 18 flats will be also built for staff. Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a decree to this effect "with a view to enlarging the Mollakara resort, further strengthening its material and technical base and enhancing its services to meet recreation needs of people in full."
