Economy and Business : Astrakhan shipyard kicks off construction of "Caspian driller" for operations in Turkmen Caspian shelf

A solemn ceremony dedicated to the completion of the first phase of construction of a jack-up drilling rig, Super M2-100 series, was held at the Red Barricades Shipyard (Astrakhan region, Russia) on 31 May. The rig named “Caspian driller” is to be used in the Turkmen shelf of the Caspian Sea. It was ordered by Singapore-Chinese company “Yantai Raflz Sims” and “Dragon Oil” from the UAE.

Tourism and Culture : Turkmen kickboxers’ success in the World Cup

The Turkmen kickboxers won six medals in the World Cup, which took place in Seget (Hungary). The tournament was held under the aegis of the World Associaiton fo Kickboxing Organisation (WAKO) with the participation of athletes from 15 countries.

Economy and Business : Turkmenistan enhances gas exports to China

Over ten billion cubic metres of Turkmen ‘blue fuel’ have been supplied to the People’s Republic of China since the Trans-Asian gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China was put into operation. The leading news agencies all over the world reported this fact that testified to a steady increase in natural gas exports from the richest deposits in Turkmenistan to China.

Politics : Turkmenistan to allocate considerable funds for social services in 2011

In 2011, the expenditure part of the state budget of Turkmenistan will be increased by 28.3 percent, or nearly by US $ 5 billion, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at a Cabinet meeting yesterday. According to him, Turkmenistan will allocate US $ 741 million for reforms in the education system, up 18.5 percent on 2010; US $ 245 million for reforms in the health sector, 20.7 per cent more on 2010. Turkmenistan will allocate US $ 84 million for the cultural sphere, a 23.2 percent increase on 2010.
