Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov started his official visit to the Austrian Republic on 17 November. The Turkmen president arrived in the international airport Vienna Shvehat from Munich. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was met by the Chief of Austrian Foreign Ministry's Protocol Department, Melita Shubert, and other officials. From the airport the president of Turkmenistan headed for his residence in the luxury hotel "Imperial".

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended a Siemens Forum in Munich on 15 November as part of his official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany. He met with representatives of German scientific and business circles.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and German Chancellor Angela Merkel held talks in the capital city of the Federal Republic of Germany on 14 November. The sides exchanged views on a number issues of regional and international politics of mutual interest. In particular, the sides discussed the forthcoming G-20 summit of the world economy's leading countries on the issue of financial crisis.
