Turkmenistan's law-enforcement agencies have uncovered and eliminated a criminal group involved in drug trafficking. In the course of the operation to detain criminals, a large amount of narcotics and firearms as well as a large sum of cash money in Turkmen manats and US dollars and also numerous golden items have been seized, the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports quoting the Turkmen State Agency for Combating Drugs.

"The operation to detain the drug dealers was pre-planned by the relevant state agencies. This fight will be continued, stepped up and will be uncompromising," the state agency said.

It should be recalled that on 13 September special units of the law enforcing agencies of Turkmenistan carried out an operation to detain a well-armed criminal group, as a result of which five Turkmen officers were killed.

The General Prosecutor's Office of Turkmenistan is currently conducting a criminal investigation in this regard.
