Askhat Orazbay appointed Kazakhstan's ambassador to Turkmenistan

Askhat Oazbay has been appointed new Kazakh ambassador to Turkmenistan. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a decree to this effect, Interfax reports quoting the press service of the Kazakh president.

According to another decree signed by N.Nazarbayev, A.Orazbay was relieved of his post as Kazakhstan's national coordinator for Shanghai Organization of Cooperation.

A.Orazbay, 47, served in different years as political advisor for the UN Special Mission for Afghanistan, director of the Asia, Middle East and Africa department of the Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan, Secretary General of Organization for Economic Cooperation.

The former Kazakh ambassador to Turkmenistan, Murat Atanov, died suddenly at the age of 56 in May 2008.
