The XXI extraordinary session of the Khalk Maslakhaty (People’s Council) has taken place in the Turkmen capital. It passed the new version of the Constitution of Turkmenistan.

Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov delivered a speech at the meeting. As the Ashgabat correspondent of Turkmenistan.ru reports, the head of state expressed confidence that the decisions passed by the national forum will serve for the prosperity of the homeland, enable the country to direct its enormous potential to address ambitious tasks set by the Turkmen people in the new historical epoch”.

In addition to the Main Law of Turkmenistan, a number of other documents were passed. Among them are: the Decree on Pardoning in honor of the Gadyr Gidjesi (the Night of Decree falls this year from September 27 to September 28) and Constitutional Law of Turkmenistan “On amendments and additions to the Constitution of Turkmenistan”.

The texts of decrees and resolutions of the XXI session of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan will be published in the national newspapers, September 27. At the end of the meeting, the participants of the XXI Khalk Maslakhaty adopted the Address to the Turkmen people and population of the country.
