Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has left for the Republic of Korea on 5 November on the first state visit. The Turkmen-Korean high level talks will be held during the visit, the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports quoting the press service of the head of state.

The Turkmen-Korean dialogue has recently grown in momentum that is characterized by increased political, business and cultural contacts, the Turkmen State News Agency (TDH) said. It should be recalled that South Korea's embassy was opened in Turkmenistan in January 2008, and Korean Prime Minister Han Seung-soo paid his first official visit to Ashgabat in May 2008.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Korea's President Lee Myung-bak met in Beijing on 8 August 2008. During the talks, the sides singled out fuel and energy, trade and economic sectors, construction industry, agriculture, textile industry, transport and communications and other industries as priority areas of cooperation.
