Air patrol ready for duty Two Robinson R44 Raven-II police helicopters replenished the fleet of the State Traffic Control Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan. At present the helicopters are making their first flights in the sky above Ashgabat. The rotorcrafts were purchased by Turkmenistan under the Programme on technology modernization of the material and technical base of the Ministry of Internal Affairs initiated by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov. R44 Raven-II Police Helicopter – a new generation of the law enforcement aircrafts has been successfully tested in many countries worldwide. The helicopters arrived ready for duty with the specialized equipment – infrared imaging system, searchlight, monitor, dual audio controller for police radios, etc. Studies show a helicopter equals at least five ground units in search ability and provides a tactical advantage in apprehending fleeing suspects during high-speed pursuits. The Turkmen pilots were trained abroad to pilot the aircrafts. The tests showed that R44 Raven-II police helicopters meet the environmental requirements. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan, the measures to replenish the fleet of modern aircrafts will enable the law enforcement agencies to bring the work up to a higher level and to ensure traffic safety in the city.
