The agenda of the forum organized by the State Coordination Commission on Drugs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and the State Service on Drugs of Turkmenistan in collaboration with the representative office of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) focused on coordination of the joint actions to combat drug trafficking and development of cross-border cooperation among the neighbouring states.

Focusing on the significance of the forum the participants were unanimous that the dialogue initiated in Ashgabat had allowed considering a wide range of the issues related to the participatory search for effective solutions to global problems and design of the concrete measures to coordinate of global efforts to establish the reliable mechanisms for control of trafficking in drugs, psychotropic substances, precursors and stop illicit drug production. The conference participants noted that the joint activities carried out in Ashgabat during three days would contribute to developing effective international partnership. It was emphasized that the priorities of the national policy included an uncompromising struggle against drug trafficking and Turkmenistan stood steadfast to its international commitments. That was vividly illustrated by the action of burning a large batch of drugs in Kasamly Julge locality. The conference participants attended the event.

Summing up the conference the participants called for furthering constructive cooperation that would block the way to illicit drug trafficking. The experts outlined the strategy of priority actions on the key problems the countries in the region faced and elaborated the recommendations on suppression of drug trafficking and control in drug addiction. The participants focused on the need coordinate the work, raise the effectiveness of information exchange to design and implement the further effective actions to combat drug trafficking.

The conference participants expressed sincere gratitude to the Turkmen partners and personally to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the high level of organisation of the forum and the splendid opportunity to discuss the ways to address one of the most urgent problems of the modern world.
