Politics : "Gaffney, Cline & Associates" confirms huge gas reserves at Southern Yoloten - Osman field

"Our company carried out an audit on the basis of geological models serving as the basis for the calculation of resources. In our work we were guided by an international system of evaluation and classification of reserves. Our company estimates Southern Yoloten - Osman reserves at 14 trillion. cu. meters of gas, which puts it in fourth place in the world," Peter Gaffney said at the International Investment Forum in Ashgabat answering journalists' questions.

"Given proven huge amounts of gas, it is clear that regardless of the results of further work to specify gas amounts, the existing reserves of gas are enough to fulfill contractual obligations of Turkmenistan," Peter Gaffney said.

According to the head of the company, the international practice suggests that in general it is better to develop such huge deposits in stages - each stage is designed for production of 10 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Thus, the volume of deposits at Southern Yoloten - Osman can be gradually increased to 70 billion cubic meters of gas per year," he said.

It should be recalled that a year ago the well-known international consultant "Gaffney, Cline & Associates" conducted an audit of gas resources at Southern Yoloten - Osman field and Yashlar field located in the Amudarya basin in eastern Turkmenistan. The company's estimates of Southern Yoloten - Osman deposits ranged from 4 to 14 trillion. cu. meters of gas. For comparison, the maximum point of 6 trillion. cu. meters is five times more than the largest Turkmen fields Dovletabad.
