1,230 kg of drugs seized by the law enforcement agencies of Turkmenistan since the start of the current year during a number of special operations was destroyed at a ceremony in Kasamly Julge area near Ashgabat on June 26.

Representatives of the UN Office on Drug and Crime, EU, OSCE, diplomatic missions, mass media, as well as participants of the first international conference on the issues of combating drug trafficking at the seaports, which is being held nowadays in Ashgabat within the framework of the Paris Pact, attended the ceremony.

Every attendee has had a chance to throw a pack of "white death" into special furnaces, the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports from Ashgabat. The process of drug destruction was supervised by officers of the law enforcement agencies and authorized experts.

The ceremony in Kasamly Julge was timed to International Day Against Drug Addiction and Illicit Trafficking. It is for fourth time in the last two years that Turkmenistan holds public destruction of large consignments of drug.
