MTS plans to construct 3G mobile communication network

The user base of one of the leading mobile communication providers partnering with our country – Russian Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) exceeded 800,000 subscribers on the eve of the main national holiday of Turkmenistan – Independence Day. The number of subscribers was increased through expanding the service area. Today the mobile communication services are provided in the remote farmers associations in all the regions of the country.

In Turkmenistan that attaches paramount importance to development and modernization of the sphere of communication and telecommunication as the priority trends of the national policy MTS ranking among the top ten mobile communication providers worldwide steadily increases the number of subscribers in collaboration with Turkmen partners. Thus, in the second half-year of the current year 47 settlements throughout the country were provided with the wireless communication network, the network capacity in Ashgabat and the administrative centers of the regions was considerably increased. The company attaches much attention to improving the services rendered to local population. This year the company started to offer the services of mobile Internet and MMS (Multimedia Message Service) in Turkmenistan.

Director General of MTS Turkmenistan Dmitriy Shukov said that the company had applied every effort to fulfill the task set by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov – to provide every citizen of Turkmenistan with an access to the Internet. The businessman noted that the company had already connected 20 secondary schools to the Internet. TP paramount importance was attached to training highly-qualified specialists. This year 20 Turkmen students have been sent to study at the oldest educational institution in Russia – Bonch-Bruevich Saint-Petersburg State University of Telecommunications.

According to D. Shukov the company’s short-range objectives include construction of the 3G mobile communication network that would provide an access to the high-speed internet and visual communication and improve the quality of communication services.
