Modern Russian films to be demonstrated in Ashgabat A week of Russian cinema dedicated to Day of Russia will be held in the Turkmen capital on June 23-27. This traditional cultural action is organized by the Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan and the ministry of culture, TV and Radio of Turkmenistan.
The programme of film festival includes feature films "Island" (2006), "Three days in Odessa" (2007), "Mongol" (2007), "Day of Election" (2007) and "We Are From Future" (2008). The programme also includes demonstration of Soviet fairy tales "Finist Yasniy Sokol", "Iliya Muromets", "The Magic Lamp of Alladin" and "Water Nymph", the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports from Ashgabat.
The festival official opening ceremony was held at the Turkmen National Music and Drama Theatre named after Makhtumkuli yesterday. The festival organizers expressed hope that this action would become another step towards expansion of the Turkmen-Russian dialogue in the sphere of culture and arts.
