World highest flagstaff installed in Ashgabat

An official ceremony of raising the Turkmen state flat on top a 133 meter high flagstaff, the world highest flagstaff built by Turkish Polimeks company in the square in front of the national museum, was held in Ashgabat on June 29. In the accompaniment of the state anthem of Turkmenistan, a 52,2 x 35 m state flag weighing 420 kg was ceremonially raised on top the flagstaff.

Vice-president of Guinness Book of World Records Craig Glenday arrived in Ashgabat to witness the record. He issued a certificate in this regard. The photograph of the world highest flagstaff with the flying state flag of Turkmenistan will be published in the book's new edition.

It should be recalled that the Turkmen 301 square meters hand-made carpet named Altyn Asyr (Golden Age) was recognized by Guinness Book of World Records the world biggest carpet in 2001.
